A study recently reported in the journal Intelligence by researchers from Yale University and Ohio State University appears to show a link between autism and autistic traits and prodigy abilities. Attention to detail seems to be the autistic trait most commonly shared among the prodigies studied. The research suggests that there may be some type of modifier present in the prodigies that helps keep them from suffering some the the more debilitating traits of autism while benefiting from the more positive traits.
